City delivers title deeds to Macassar residents
10 March 2026
The City of Cape Town’s Human Settlements Directorate is back on the road and handed title deeds to qualifying beneficiaries in Macassar. This marks another step in the City’s ongoing efforts to assist residents with security of tenure right on their doorstep.
‘Our Macassar handover forms part of Human Settlement’s broader title deeds programme, which places a large focus on unlocking homeownership opportunities for residents across the metro. Since the launch of our brand new Title Deeds Express bus, we’ve handed over more than 520 title deeds to residents across Cape Town.
‘Title deeds represent far more than property ownership alone. They provide families with security, dignity and a valuable asset for generations to come. For many beneficiaries around the city, receiving their title deed gives them full legal ownership of their home and the peace of mind that comes with it.
Our hard work continues. We are on the ground and we will continue to deliver title deeds to beneficiaries as part of our commitment to empowering residents and communities,’ said the Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Carl Pophaim.
Residents are reminded that City housing services are free. If any payment is requested, beneficiaries are advised to verify directly with the City’s Human Settlements call centre on
021 444 0333.

We encourage beneficiaries in older City housing developments, who do not have their title deed, to contact the City. To really drive progress, we will soon take our new Human Settlements bus into all areas of the metro.
When we are in your area, remember:
Bring along your ID book/card and proof of address for verification purposes. If you are married, kindly bring along your and your spouse's ID book/card and marriage certificate.
In the unfortunate event that your spouse has passed away, please bring along your marriage certificate, the death certificate, and the deceased’s ID card/book. Similarly, if your parents have passed away and you are their beneficiary to the property, please bring their death certificate, marriage certificate, the deceased’s ID book/card, and the letter of executorship or letter of authority. These documents are necessary. Without them, we will not be in any position to hand over the title deed. We look forward to seeing you and helping you secure your title deed.
